Jacqui graduated from the University of Maine in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, majoring in piano with a vocal track. While Jacqui was in school, she worked part time as the Organist and Youth choir Director at Brewer’s First Congregational Church in Brewer, Maine and was also Organist at Eddington Methodist Chruch in Eddington, Maine.After graduation, Jacqui accepted the position of Minister of Music at Standish Congregational Church where she directed the Choir, developed a Youth Choir, and played the organ and piano for church services, funerals and weddings for almost 10 years. During that time, Jacqui also started her own business, Jacqui’s Piano Studio, teaching private piano lessons in Portland, Maine.
Today, Jacqui runs a full time studio in Falmouth, Maine where she teaches approximately 50 students. Her program includes recitals, group classes, master classes, and student participation in Maine Music Teachers Association Festivals and Competitions. She is the Vice President of Programs for the Maine Music Teachers Association where she assists with organizing conferences, festivals and competitive events for piano students across all of Maine. She also started the Southern MaineMTA and is currently President.
Jacqui is currently Minister of Music at First Parish in Saco and leads the music program which includes directing the Senior Choir and Youth Choir, accompanying the Junior Choir, organizing the music for Worship and playing the piano and organ for services, funerals and weddings.
Music has been a part of Jacqui’s life since a very young age, taking lessons and playing duets and two piano music as a child wit h her Mother and Grandmother.She participated in music as much as possible in school and went to Portland Arts and Technology High School for Music her Senior year. Over the years, she studied the organ with well-known organists such as Kevin Birch, Ray Cornils and Christopher Pelonzi in Portland. She has had piano lessons from a very young age and later studied with Baycka Voronietsky at the University of Maine, Christine Kissack of Piano Learning Center and Laura Kargul who is the Director of Keyboard Studies at the University of Southern Maine. Jacqui believes that learning and accomplishment on instruments like the piano and organ are a life long journey, and so in addition to her teaching, she will always be continuing her professional development through conferences and private lessons.
Jacqui is also the mother of three Children, Alex who is 15 and plays the piano and sings, Emily who is 7 and also loves to sing, dance and play the piano, and Gunnar who is 4 and loves music and movement! She feels extremely lucky to share of her passion of music with her own family and her students and students families!
