Meet the Pianist

Lucy Dubail

AGE: 15

Lucy’s repertoire includes Scarlatti, Bach, Beethoven, many duets with her sister, pop infused lyrical and contemporary piano pieces and Jazz. She plays piano in her high school Jazz Band and played saxophone in band for many years. She has participated in almost all of Jacqui’s events and has participated in two of MaineMTA’s Monster festivals! She is great at accompanying and loves all kinds of different styles of music.

1. How long have you played the piano?

9 Years.

2.  What are the greatest challenges in your piano study?

Finding enough time to practice during the week with school, softball and track.

3. What is your favorite part of your piano study?

The many different styles of music you can play!

4. Do you enjoy performing?  /What do you get out of performing?

I enjoy performing even though it makes me nervous. Performing has helped me gain confidence.

5. How often do you practice?  What is your practice routine?

On a good week I practice every day for at least 30 minutes. On a really good day I will practice for an hour.


6. What kind of music do you listen to?  Who are your favorite artists/composers?I mostly listen to pop but I like Jazz, broadway and classical music.

7. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to study the piano?

Don’t ignore practicing your scales.

8. What are some other likes and dislikes you have.  Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I play softball year-round, I love to read and I just started crocheting.
